Texas Big Game Event Now Even Better
from the Abilene Reporter-News
The 2008 Texas Big Game Awards program, slated for Sept. 13 at the Abilene Civic Center, just got a whole lot more interesting. Besides being able to view many of the mounted trophies that won honors during the past year's hunting seasons in the Cross Timbers (Region 3) section of the state, which should be enough to lure any professed hunter to Abilene from just about anywhere in Texas, it has just been announced that probably the world's most skillful and best-known outdoor photographer, Wyman Meinzer, will be on hand to present a show on his newest book titled "Inspiration Texas Style." The book was chosen by Southern Living magazine as their editor's choice for Christmas gift this fall. More

Gun Sales Strong in Austin Area this Summer
from the Austin American-Statesman
Austin-area firearms dealers may have the Democrats to thank for brisk sales this summer. The prospect that the next presidential administration might favor new gun-control laws has gun enthusiasts bringing dollars and concerns to local firearms stores ahead of the November election. Some Central Texans have been talking about laws from the 1990s — passed under a Democratic president and Congress — that restricted semiautomatic rifles, governed the sale of high-capacity magazines and mandated waiting periods before customers could receive handguns. Their worries have translated into higher sales at local gun stores, store owners say. More

Hunting Accuracy: Troubleshooting the Rifle
from NRA Hunters Rights
When our rifle lives up to our expectations it is a wonderful thing, but when it does not it can be frustrating and confusing.
